Beef Rendang & Heaven

Ceri had invited some of us in church to her place for beef rendang today. When she unvealed the dish on her dinner table, it really smelled and looked like the beef rendang that we know of back home!! Thought it was quite amusing to be having beef rendang at a walsh's home! =)

The beef rendang tasted pretty good. However, she had added a little too much tamarind and too little coconut. So, it is honestly not quite as authentic and shiok as the one we would have back home.

On the way back in the tube, YL was suddenly "inspired". He was giving me the analogy of the beef rendang to heaven. Just as Ceri (and Jenny - a Brit friend at the lunch gathering) have not tasted the real beef rendang, whatever that they now experience and cook (even when it is in accordance to the recipe book!) would be deemed "very good" in their opinion. But imagine it if they were at singapore/malaysia/indonesia eating the real beef rendang? Bet their taste-buds would be even more blown away by it!

So it is the same with God and heaven. Whilst we are on this earth, the heaven that we imagine in our limited knowledge based on the bible would just be a semblance of the glories that it would actually contain/be! Wow....thats a lot for us to look forward to!!! =)

(So, unlike how the lyrics of an oldie song went, heaven is certainly not "just a place on earth"!!)
